Kim Jong-il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has called for efforts to speed up the development of computer software technology, the official leading newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported on Tuesday.
"It is of weighty importance to develop the programming technology as required by the age of science and technology and the age of computer," Kim said when visiting the 18th national program contest and exhibition of the DPRK.
The DPRK should speed up the development of software technology under a long-term plan and more thoroughly establish the system for training software technologists and reinforcing the material means, Kim said.
The educational institutions should offer effective computer education to students from their early years, he added.
The newspaper reported that Kim looked round exhibits for a long while to acquaint himself in detail with the performance of programs and their development. Source:Xinhua
