Leaders of Greater Mekong Sub-region(GMS) countries will meet in Laos late this month to discuss measures for closer regional cooperation, Lao newspaper Vientiane Times reported Tuesday.

During the 3rd summit of leaders from countries participating in the GMS Economic Cooperation Program, leaders of China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, are scheduled to discuss ways to boost cross-border trade, investment, and private sector's role.

They are also scheduled to discuss issues on human resources and skills development, environmental protection, sustainable use of natural resources, and transport cooperation.

Established in 1992, the Asian Development Bank-funded program promotes closer economic ties and cooperation among the six countries.
