The trading on the Malaysia stock market resumed one hour later after it was suspended at 2:58p.m. in the afternoon session on Monday.
According to a measure introduced by the Malaysia Stock Exchange, if the market falls by 15 percent compared with the previous closing after trading resumes an hour later, the market will be closed for the rest of the session.
Malaysia's stock market normally closes at 5:00 p.m. on a trading day. Malaysia's national news agency Bernama quoted some dealers as saying that investors had over-reacted owing to uncertainty after the recent election in the country.
The Malaysia Stock Exchange was suspended automatically at 2:58p.m. after the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) fell 130.01 points to 1,166.32, or 10.03 percent.
