Singapore's retail sales in January this year grew by 7.8 percent over a year ago, with positive growths in most of the sectors, said the Department of Statistics on Friday.
According to figures released by the department, excluding motor vehicles, January's sales rose by 15.1 percent, and after removing price effect, the overall sales rose by 1.5 percent over January last year.
The catering trade rose by 5.3 percent over a year ago, with higher sales for all catering sectors except food caterers.
The total retail sales value in January this year was estimated at 3.24 billion Singapore dollars (about 2.34 billion U.S. dollars)compared to 3.14 billion Singapore dollars (about 2.27 billion U.S. dollars) in December last year. Source: Xinhua
