The U.S. dollar fell briefly to a 12-year low in 99 yen territory on Friday for the first time to break the 100 yen line in Tokyo since October 1995.
At 5 p.m. in Tokyo, the dollar traded at 100.27-30 yen against Thursday's 5 p.m. quotes of 100.60-70 yen in New York and 100.17-20 yen in Tokyo.
It moved between 99.84 yen and 101.05 yen, changing hands most frequently at 100.17 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.5590-5593 dollars and 156.35-39 yen, against late Thursday's quotes of 1.5630-5640 dollars and 157.30-40 yen in New York, and 1.5564-5567 dollars and 155.94-98 yen in Tokyo. Source: Xinhua
