LG ELECTRONICS (M) Sdn Bhd, a unit of South Korea's LG Electronics Inc, aims to quadruple the revenue of its mobile business to 80 million U.S. dollars this year in Malaysia, local media reported on Tuesday.
The group expects the launch of 30 models of mobile phone this year to help it achieve the target, the New Straits Times said.
Last year, the mobile division contributed about 20 percent, or some 20 million U.S. dollars, of the group's revenue locally. The company hopes to increase the contribution to 30 percent this year.
Managing director Ko Tae Yeon is optimistic that demand will keep rising because consumers will want to upgrade their phones to include the latest digital features.
"LG's new-product launches will meet that demand," he said, adding that the group will launch at least four new models each month.
"It is our goal to be among the top three mobile phone companies globally. We offer products that cater to both premium and mass-market segments," Ko said. Source:Xinhua
