Demand of Chinese mobile accessories in Bangladesh's booming telecom market marked an impressive growth in the past one year because of their competitive price and higher quality, traders and consumers said here on Tuesday.

Some traders said at least 70 percent of mobile accessories of their daily sales are from China.

They said demand of Chinese accessories has almost doubled in the country due to hefty growth in mobile subscription.

"We have been importing Chinese mobile accessories since 1996. Our yearly turnover doubled in 2007 comparing with 2006," Md Zaman, a senior official of Anik, one of the leading mobile accessories importers, told Xinhua Tuesday.

Zaman didn't disclose the amount of their sales volume but said the demand of Chinese mobile accessories in the local market is growing fast due to its higher quality.

Bangladesh has now over 30 million mobile subscribers. The country's six mobile phone operators added 1.4 million new users in March this year.

Some consumers said they prefer Chinese mobile accessories not only for good quality but for reasonable prices.

"I bought a Chinese mobile phone charger about two years ago with comparatively cheaper price. It is still working well," Hamidul Islam, a student of Dhaka University, said.

The consumers said Chinese manufacturers should directly market their products in Bangladesh to help the customers buy mobile accessories at more reasonable prices.
