Leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) held a talk with the visiting representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Kathmandu Friday, local media reported.

The talk mainly centered on economic support by the ADB, a report by the leading website, eKantipur.com, quoted CPN-Maoist leaders as saying.

The CPN-M Chairman Prachanda, Baburam Bhattarai and six head members of ADB central board were present at the meeting.

Led by ADB director Sebastian Paust, the visiting ADB team arrived in Nepal on Monday. They are scheduled to visit Bhutan and Banglasedh later, ADB office in Kathmandu said.

A founding member of ADB, Nepal has received an cumulated loan of 2.3 billion U.S. dollars as of December 31, 2007, with an investment grant of 183.9 million dollars and a technical assistance fund of 127.6 million dollars.

The assistance is focused on agriculture, education, water supply and sanitation, transport and communications, finance, energy, and public and private sector governance.

In the past seven years, the Asian Development Fund, through grants and low-interest loans, has built 38,000 schools, provided clean water to more than 200,000 households, built or improved 6,700 health facilities in the country, according to the report.
