The approval rating for Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda's Cabinet edged up by 1.8 percentage points to 26.8 percent from the previous June survey, Kyodo News reported Saturday.

The disapproval rate for the Fukuda Cabinet went down 6.7 percentage point to 53.5 percent, according to he nationwide telephone poll conducted Friday and Saturday after the Group of Eight (G8) summit held in Hokkaido.
