A suicide bomber blew himself up near the vehicles of Afghan National Army Saturday noon, killing two soldiers and one civilian and wounding five others in southern Afghan province of Helmand, an official told Xinhua.
Mohammad Hussein Andiwal, the provincial police chief told Xinhua the blast occoured at around 12 a.m.(GMT0730) when the suicide attacker with explosive materials hidden under clothes came near the vehicles of Afghan National Army patrolling in the Marja district of Helmand, and exploded himself.
"Two Afghan soldiers and one civilian were killed," Andiwal said. "One police and four other civilians were reportedly wounded on the spot."
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in a statement released in Kaubl on Wednesday revealed that over 250 civilians have been killed or injured in various incidents in Afghanistan since July 4.
Militancy and conflicts have claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people with some 700 civilians so far this year in Afghanistan.
