Pakistani forces Saturday foiled an arms smuggling bid and seized a huge cache of arms in the country's southwest, officials said.
The paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) raided an empty house at Qila Abdullah in Balochistan province on a tip and seized four kilograms of high explosives, 52 rounds of anti-aircraft gun, eight hand grenades, four rounds of anti-tank gun, seven rockets of RPG-7, 15 shells of 82mm Mortar, eight rounds of 20mm gun and five anti-personal landmines.
The FC said in a statement that the forces have stepped up checking at all exits and entry points in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
It said that 76 people had been arrested for "violation of the laws". The police also recovered weapons from the Saryab colony of Quetta.
Officials said that the weapons were dumped in the house in the area, near the Afghan border.
The provincial government has redeployed paramilitary troops due to bad law and order situation.
Police said that around 50 people had been killed in the past six months in apparent target killing in Quetta.
