Omani oil exports down 5.1 percent in May

The crude oil exports of Oman stood at approximately 90.7 million barrels in May this year, decreasing by 5.1 percent compared with 95.5 million barrels in the same period of 2007, local Oman Tribune reported on Monday.

The total output of crude oil and condensates of Oman rose 4.3 percent to 112.2 million barrels in May of 2008 from 107.5 million barrels on a year-on-year basis, according to a latest statistics issued by the country's Ministry of National Economy.

Oman's average daily output of crude oil and condensates hit 738,700 barrels in May this year, representing a growth of 3.6 percent over 713,000 barrels in the same period of last year.

The average price for one barrel of Omani crude oil stood at 90.03 U.S. dollars in May 2008, up 54.3 percent compared with 58.35 dollars in May last year.

The country's natural gas production fell by 0.2 percent in May2008 to 438.979 billion cubic feet, according to the figure.
