The average retail price of regular gasoline in Japan increased by 4.40 yen per liter from a week earlier as of Monday, reaching a record high of 185.10 yen (about 1.71 U.S. dollars) per liter, local media reported on Wednesday, quoting industry group.
The Japan Oil Information Center attributed the price hike to major oil distributors' lifting of wholesale prices of gasoline due to recent surges of crude oil prices in the international market.
The center started compiling such data in 1987. Source:Xinhua
