Toyota announced Monday that it is to raise the prices of two hybrid models sold in Japan by 3 percent in response to soaring raw material prices.
As of September 1, the price for the Prius hybrid passenger car's S type will rise by 73,500 yen (668 U.S. dollars) to 2,383,500 yen (22,000 dollars) while that for the Harrier Hybrid S Package version will also increase 136,500 yen (1,240 dollars) to 4,756,500 yen (43,000 dollars), the nation's No.1 carmaker said.
Furthermore, Toyota will also increase the prices of some commercial vehicles. Probox Van's DX Comfort Package version, among others, will go up by 1 percent to 1,321,950 yen (12,000 dollars).
