About two thousand electricity consumers in New Zealand's lower and central North Island were still without power on Tuesday after strong winds battered the region.
Supply was lost on Tuesday after winds gusting to more than 150km/h brought down trees and branches on powerlines, Radio New Zealand reported.
At one stage, more than 4,000 customers were without power in Wellington, Wairarapa, Manawatu and Taranaki.
The power is now back on in Wellington, but about 2,000 households in areas further north are still without supply.
Meanwhile, the weather has been blamed for at least four accidents, the latest a collision north of Te Kuiti in Waikato, which has closed part of State Highway 3.
The storm is continuing to move north, but MetService said the winds are lessening.
Services at Wellington International Airport are back to normal after a morning of delays and cancellations.
