Indonesian Rupiah (Rp) is weakening but still in a normal rating, said the head of Indonesia's centralbank Tuesday, telling reporters not to worry about the financial crisis impact too much.

"If we notice carefully, Rupiah has been fluctuating since the beginning of 2008, and the rate is still normal. We also keep maintaining the volatility," the leading website Detikcom quoted head of Bank Indonesia (BI) Boediono as saying.

BI kept monitoring the latest development after Rupiah had fallen to 9,590. "We just follow the directive situation for stability," he said.

The Indonesian money market predicted that BI would raise the interest rate, which was 9.25 percent at present, for the second time this month, if Rupiah keeps dropping.
