Hong Kong stocks on Friday tracked overnight tumbles on Wall Street to open at 14,717.52, down 1,225.72 points, or 7.69 percent.
The Dow Jones industrial average shed 678.91 points, or 7.33 percent, after an afternoon sell-off to close below the 9,000 mark for the first time in five years.
