Tokyo stocks crashed Friday morning with the key Nikkei index nosediving 10.64 percent to a new low since May 2003.
The benchmark Nikkei-225 average shed 974.12 points to 8,183.37from Thursday.
The Topix index lost 75.20 points to 829.91, an 8.31 percent decrease on the previous trading day.
