New Zealand's trade deficit widened in the three months to September, as demand for imports shows little sign of lessening.
Statistics New Zealand said on Wednesday that the seasonally adjusted shortfall stood at 1.5 billion NZ dollars (850 million U.S. dollars) in the July-September quarter.
Exports rose 8 percent to 3.3 billion NZ dollars and imports rose 24 percent to 4.4 billion NZ dollars, on the back of demand for fuel.
The annual trade deficit is 5 billion NZ dollars for the year to September. Source:Xinhua
