Tokyo stocks continued an uptrend Wednesday with the key Nikkei index up 7.74 percent to above 8,000line.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 average advanced 589.98 points to 8,211.90.

The Topix index on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 46.29 points, or 5.90 percent, to 830.32.
