Australian Treasurer Wayne Swan said on Monday he expected Australia to keep recording positive economic growth despite the global financial crisis.
"The government does expect to see positive growth because Australia is in a far better position than just about any other country in the world," Australian Associated Press quoted Swan as saying in Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland.
"We are not immune from the fallout of the global financial crisis, you can see that in the data today, but we are in a far better position than any other country around the world," he said.
"We do expect to see positive economic growth in Australia despite the impact of the global financial crisis," Swan added.
However, despite Swan's confidence on the economy, a slump in job advertising in the past six months suggested unemployment could start rising quickly. Recent data also showed that businesses are rapidly winding back their hiring intentions and consumer spending is weak. Source: Xinhua
