South Korean exports of information technology (IT) products fell 6.4 percent from a year earlier to 12.2 billion U.S. dollars, the report by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said Wednesday.
The IT imports dropped 6.6 percent to 6.3 billion U.S. dollars in the same period, the ministry said.
According to the report, the decline of IT exports last month was mainly due to a sharp fall in overseas demand for semiconductors.
The semiconductor exports fell 19.1 percent to 2.7 billion U.S. dollars last month, it showed.
On the other hand, exports of display panels went up 3.8 percent to 2.4 billion dollars and mobile phone shipments also surged 13.7 percent to 3.7 billion U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, only exports to the United states gained while shipments to China, the European Union (EU) and Japan all declined.
Exports to China fell 1 percent, while those for the EU and Japan dropped 14.5 percent and 26.4 percent respectively.
The U.S. exports, however, gained 6.1 percent, fueled by high demand for locally-made premium mobile phones, the report showed.
