Dollar rises to upper 97 yen level in morning session

The U.S. dollar rose into the upper 97 yen range Wednesday morning in Tokyo from lower 97 yen level earlier.

At noon, the dollar fetched 97.78-83 yen against 97.40-50 yen in London at 4 p.m. Tuesday and 97.64-65 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. the same day. The New York foreign exchange market was closed for the Veteran's Day holiday.

The euro traded at 1.2567-2572 dollars and 122.87-92 yen compared with 1.2545-2555 dollars and 122.15-20 yen in London and 1.2727-2729 dollars and 124.27-31 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday.
