Dollar trades at upper 96 yen level in Tokyo

The U.S. dollar traded in the upper 96 yen level Tuesday morning in Tokyo, down from its overnight level in New York.

At noon, the dollar fetched 96.60-65 yen versus 97.28-38 yen in New York at 5 p.m. Monday and 94.98-95.00 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Friday. Tokyo financial markets were closed Monday due to a national holiday.

The euro traded at 1.2865-2870 dollars and 124.33-38 yen compared with 1.2950-2960 dollars and 125.96-126.06 yen in New York late Monday and 1.2536-2538 dollars and 119.07-11 yen in Tokyo late Friday.
