Singapore is seeking business opportunities in Latin America, meanwhile it may help Latin American countries to assess Asian market, visiting Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Thursday.

Meeting with Chilean businessmen, Lee said Chile is Singapore's closest friend in Latin America, and both economies share many similarities.

"Chile is a small economy in the region that wants to work with its neighbors, but also go farther beyond continental limits," Lee said.

On Singapore's interest for access to Latin America through Chile, Lee said that his country may also help Chile enter the Asian market.

Lee Hsien Loong met on Wednesday with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet. The two leaders signed an agreement on educational exchange cooperation.
