Jordan's government has lowered fuel prices, the eighth time in a row since August, as oil prices continue a decline trend on international markets, local daily The Jordan Times reported Sunday.
Under the updated list, the prices of gasoline 90 and 95 dropped by around 6.76 percent and 5.8 percent respectively to settle at 0.35 Jordanian dinar (some 0.5 U.S. dollar) and 0.405 dinar per liter.
In addition, the prices of diesel and kerosene went down by 17.4 percent, standing at 0.355 dinar a liter.
The update will be effective for one month, said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Khaldoun Qteishat on Saturday.
Meanwhile, an ad hoc committee has been formed by Prime Minister Nader Dahabi to work out solutions to avoid the reoccurrence of the acute shortage of fuel reserves at gas stations, Qteishat said.
The committee consists of members from the ministries of Energy and Finance and the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company(JPRC).
During the past months, vehicles have been lining at gas stations which lacks fuel because station owners stopped fuel orders from the JPRC to avoid losses. (1 U.S. dollar= 0.708 Jordanian dinar)
