Iran's Minister of Commerce Massoud Mir-Kazemi said on Monday that Iran favored the access to European markets via Balkan partner, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Mir-Kazemi expressed hope that "Iran would expand its presence in the Balkan region so that it could reach the European markets."
The remarks were made after Iran's Mir-Kazemi and Bosnian Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mladen Zirojevic signed a preferential tariff agreement here Monday evening.
According to the agreement, Iran will import wood, medicine, furniture from Bosnia-Herzegovina and in return it will export medical equipment, foodstuff, car, medicine, clothing, ceramic tile and marble.
The formation of a trade commission to help promote Tehran-Sarajevo trade cooperation was another agreement reached.
This is an "indication of serious determination of the two countries' leaders" to boost their relations and this would enable Iranian traders to expand their business with other European states via Bosnia, Mir-Kazemi added.
For his part, visiting Zirojevic expressed his country's interest to further expand the "all-out" ties with Tehran.
Mladen Zirojevic arrived in Tehran on Monday for talks on commercial issues between two countries.
Iran's hand-woven carpets and dried fruits has been traded to Europe, however, the recent dispute between the West and Iran over the country's ambitious nuclear program had hit the commercial relations between the two sides. Source:Xinhua
