South Korean consumer sentiment inched up in June as optimistic views on the economy growing more prevalent, the central bank said
on June 25.
The consumer survey index, a gauge of consumers' overall economic outlook with a reading below 100 indicating pessimists outnumber optimists, slightly increased to 106 in April from 105 the previous month, the Bank of Korea (BOK) said in a report.
The June data stands at the highest level since the third quarter of 2007 when the figure came in at 108.
Although the gain in the index slowed down as economic indicators held back fast improvement, consumers are still having optimistic views on the economy down the road, an official at the BOK explained.
The report is a result of a survey conducted to 2,132 households in 56 major local cities from June 11 - 18, according to the BOK.
