The International Palm Oil Congress 2009 (PIPOC 2009) hosted by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) will be held from November 9 to 12 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center here.

The event will chart the way forward for the industry in the world's oils and fats economy while being a platform for participants to interact and share information in areas pertaining to the oil palm industry.

According to the MPOB's official website, the congress, themed "Balancing Ecologics with Economics", will focus on palm oil as the powerhouse of the oils and fats market and advances in the industry.

These include the need to balance its growth in harmony with the environment for sustainable development, said the website.

The website also said that environmentally related issues, technology breakthroughs and the outlook of the commodities will be addressed by experts and renowned speakers.

Given the fluctuation of palm oil and petroleum prices, as well as the slowing down of world economy, the outlook for palm oil needs to be properly addressed, according to the website.
