French automaker Renault announced on Monday it would recall more than 10,000 cars in six models of Logan sedans in Brazil because of faulty axial ball joints.

The company said the problematic axial ball joints might cause accidents that could seriously injure or even kill its occupiers.

Renault listed the chassis numbers of the cars to be recalled in a statement and advised owners of those Logan cars to contact their retailers for checks and replacement of the car parts affected if necessary.

Sao Paulo's consumer protection agency Procon said in a statement that those vehicles must be fixed immediately.

Renault released its Logan series in the Brazilian market this year and in September, it called back some sedans of this series over faulty brake pedals which could turn the brake lights on unintentionally or even lead to a malfunctioning of the car's brake system.
