Production and sales of motor vehicles in Brazil set new annual records in 2007, the National Motor Vehicle Manufacturer Association (Anfavea) said Monday.
Sales topped 2.46 million in 2007, including domestically manufactured and imported vehicles, up 27.8 percent from 2006, Anfavea said.
Meanwhile, the country produced 2.97 million vehicles in 2007, up 13.9 percent from 2006, it added.
A total of 209,200 vehicles made in Brazil were sold in Dec. 2007, up 0.6 percent from Nov. and up 13.9 percent from Dec. 2006, it said, adding that total sales, including imports, reached 242,200 that month, up 2.2 percent from Nov. and up 18.3 percent from the same period in 2006.
In Dec. last year, production reached 223,200 vehicles, down 17.7 percent from Nov. but up 17.8 percent from Dec. 2006, Anfavea said.
Anfavea President Jackson Schneider attributed the month-on-month production fall in Dec. to "seasonal factors," such as employees "collective vacationing" in the period. Source: Xinhua
