The United States and Russia will hold formal economic talks, said a joint statement released by the State Department on Thursday.
"Given the increased investment and trade between our two countries, and Russia's growing importance in the world economy, the United States and Russia will establish a formal economic dialogue to discuss issues of mutual interest," the statement said.
The inaugural meeting of Washington-Moscow dialogue will be in the spring in Washington, D.C, according to the statement.
U.S.-Russian trade and investment is soaring despite the two countries' disagreements over a range of world issues such as U.S. plans for a missile defense shield and the future of the Serbian breakaway province of Kosovo.
