Two Peruvian initiatives topped the agenda as some 100 delegates from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members began their meeting Thursday in the city of Cusco in southeast Peru.
The Inca Window for the Commercialization of Commodities and the plan for anticipated resolutions are aimed at speeding up trade in the bloc with 21 member economies.
During the 2nd session of the Sub-Committee of Customs Procedures (SCCP) of the APEC, participants at the four-day meeting agreed to speed up trade within the bloc.
The series of experts' meetings on trade and investment issues are meant to prepare ground for the APEC summit in November in Lima.
The Inca Window focuses on the liberalization, unification and simplification of customs systems for imports and exports.
The plan for anticipated resolutions seeks to simplify the procedures and reduce costs of imports and exports, as well as ensure transparency and juridical security for external trade operations.
Peru believes that by 2010, a mechanism of "anticipated resolutions" will clarify customs obligations for imports. Source:Xinhua
