Crude oil dropped below 112 U.S. dollars per barrel for the first time since early May on Friday as the dollar gained strongly against the euro.

Light, sweet crude for September delivery lost 3.49 dollars to 111.52 dollars a barrel as of 11:00 EST (1500 GMT) on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
