Brazil registered a surplus of 2.2 billion U.S. dollars in August in international trade, down 24.8 percent from the same month last year, according to a report released on Monday.
According to the report, which was released by Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade, Brazilian exports amounted to 19.7 billion U.S. dollars in August, up 43.2 percent from the same month of last year.
The imports reached a record high of 17.4 billion U.S. dollars in August, the second consecutive month in which imports reached record high this year.
The accumulated surplus from January to August reached 16.9 billion U.S. dollars, with an average of 101.2 million dollars per business day, down 37.7 percent from the same period last year.
The exports amounted to 130.8 billion U.S. dollars in the period, and the imports totaled 113.9 billion U.S. dollars, the report said. Source: Xinhua
