Peruvian President Alan Garcia on Tuesday had a telephone conversation with his U.S. counterpart George W. Bush, who will attend the 16th summit of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Peru next week.

The Peruvian Presidency said the two leaders discussed issues related to the APEC summit.

Bush, who visited Peru in 2002, is expected to have a number of bilateral meetings in the framework of the APEC summit.

The APEC is composed of Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, South Korea, the United States, Philippines, China's Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam.
