The sales of vehicles in Brazil fell by 23.44 percent in November from a year earlier due to credit restrictions and lack of consumer confidence as a result of the current financial crisis.
In total, 309,712 units of new cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, motorcycles and agricultural machinery were registered in November, according to data released on Monday by the National Federation of Distribution of Motor Vehicles (Fenabrave).
The segment most affected was the car, with a decrease of 29.8 percent in November.
In the first 11 months of the year, a total of 4.5 million vehicles have been sold, representing an increase of 17.36 percent as compared with the same period of 2007,
But November was already the second consecutive month of decline in new car registrations, after a 5.7 percent drop in October, according to the Fenabrave.
The sharp drop in sales in the last month would affect the forecast of the Fenabrave which expected a 4.8 million record sales for the first 11months of the year.
