Uruguay and Peru signed a series of deals on Monday in efforts to promote economic and trade ties.

The deals, signed by Uruguayan Foreign Minister Gonzalo Fernandez and his visiting Peruvian counterpart Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde, included an agreement on strategic cooperation framework and a memorandum of understanding on boosting trade, tourism and investment cooperation, said the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry.

The deals will create opportunities to deepen bilateral ties and stand as a showcase of the two sides' willingness to bridge the gap between them, Fernandez told local media.

Garcia said these agreements will enhance the commercial relationship and facilitate the flow and improvement of investment between the two countries.
