Senior Cuban and Slovak officials held talks in the first Session of the Intergovernmental Commission between the two countries here Tuesday to discuss bilateral economic and trade relations, expressing the willingness to promote trade between Cuba and Slovakia.
The meeting began on Monday and is scheduled to end on Thursday.
The agenda of the meeting includes discussions on the signing of new bilateral agreements on cooperation in the energy industry, health care, the medical-pharmaceutical sector and biotechnology.
Cuban Exterior Commerce and Foreign Investment Vice Minister Ricardo Guerrero Blanco and Peter Ziga, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of Slovakia, are attending the meeting.
In an address to the opening ceremony of the meeting, Guerrero pointed out the importance of the two countries' economic and trade relations, and expressed the wish to extend the development of bilateral economic and trade relations onto a greater range of fields.
Speaking on the same occasion, Ziga announced the establishment of a commercial department in the Slovak Embassy in Havana, to facilitate the promotion of bilateral economic and trade relations, and the implementation of bilateral agreements on economy and trade.
