Colombia has launched a campaign to eradicate more than 13,000 hectares of coca in the northwestern region of Nudo de Paramillo, the government said on Thursday.
The aim of the project is to get rid of coca to facilitate reforestation and productive projects so as to improve the livelihood of the peasants.
Instead of coca, a large amount of areas in the region could be used to cultivate rubber plants, cacao, and trees, government officials said.
