Construction output in the euro zone fell by 0.8 percent in April, compared with the previous month, the European Union (EU)'s statistics bureau Eurostat said Wednesday.
The decline came after a much deeper drop in March, when construction output decreased by 2.8 percent month-on-month, according to revised figures.
Year on year, the eurozone construction output decreased by 2.4 percent in April, following a similar drop in the previous month.
In the 27-nation EU, production in the construction sector fell by 0.4 percent from the previous month in April and by 0.3 percent year-on-year.
Among member states whose data were available, construction output rose in nine and fell in four, compared with the previous month.
Portugal recorded the largest monthly increase of 10.6 percent, while Spain registered the biggest drop of 6.5 percent. Construction output declined by 2.9 percent in Germany, the largest economy within the EU.
