The London stock market opened higher in the early trading on Monday after travel firm Thomas Cook reported interim results.
Thomas Cook shares rose 2.9 percent following reports of narrowed first-half losses and that it was set to achieve full-year targets.
The FTSE 100 went up 14.7 points at 5,681.9 by 0812 BST, with rising mining shares also helping the market.
Outside the top 100 firms, retailer Debenhams jumped 12 percent after it released a trading update that showed an increase in recent sales.
Bradford & Bingley climbed 6.8 percent after it said it had rejected plans put forward by investment group Resolution to invest 400-million-pound (some 800 million U.S. dollars) into the bank. Source: Xinhua
