The London stock market fell in Wednesday morning trading, with the benchmark FTSE 100 index down 50.20 points, or 1.08 percent, at 4,588.72 by 0844 GMT.
Scottish & Southern Energy dipped more than 6 percent after it said it would sell more shares for fund raising. And mining shares were down as metals prices falling. Vedanta Resources was down 4.6percent and BHP Billiton dropping 3.5 percent.
