Africa's economic growth is expected to continue at 5.9 percent over the next two years, according to African Economic Outlook (AEO) 2008 which will be presented to the public in Paris on June 27.
Africa's economic growth is estimated at 5.7 percent in 2007 and it is the fourth consecutive year for the continent to maintain growth above 5 percent, the report said.
The prospects are favourable for Africa in general, according to the report which is jointly produced by the African Development Bank (ADB), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
However, the report noted that there were marked differences between oil exporters and the others, with the former group continuing to benefit from the boom in oil exports and persistently high prices.
The AEO, the only annual report on Africa which applies a common analytical framework to every country in the continent, will be presented to the public in Paris at the Eighth International Forumon African Perspectives on June 27. Source: Xinhua
