Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua is scheduled to launch the economic blueprint of Vision 20:2020 on Oct. 15 in the capital Abuja, an official has announced.
The project is aimed at placing Nigeria among the biggest 20 world economies by 2020, the News Agency of Nigeria said on Saturday.
Shamsudeen Usman, Nigeria's minister of national planning, made the announcement on Thursday after a meeting of the National Council on Vision 20:2020.
The minister said the launch was shifted from Oct. 1 to enable the National Economic Council (NEC) and the National Assembly to ratify the draft.
The minister said the extension was also to enable two of the 36 states which had not made input into the economic transformation blueprint to submit their documents.
Usman said the council received the vision document prepared by35 of the 36 states and Abuja, adding that it also received inputs from more than 40 ministries, departments and agencies. Source:Xinhua
