On October 18, China's first comprehensive natural gas hydrate (NGH) or combustible ice research vessel "Haiyang-6" joined the country’s marine geological research fleet. Not only is it the first comprehensive NGH research vessel that was independently designed and built by China, but it is also the world's first research vessel to integrate several different functions such as seismic measurement and geological survey. Its joining the fleet indicates that China's marine geological survey equipment manufacturing industry is ranked among the world's most advanced.
