Shandong province's first megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant was recently connected to the power grid. Reporters learned that this is Shandong's first solar power plant to be connected to the grid with an annual power generating capacity reaching 1.3 million kWh.
Located in the Economic and Technological Development Zone of Weishan County, Jining in Shandong province, the plant is expected to steadily operate for 25 years, reducing the amount of standard coal used by 11,900 tons. Shandong province has plans to increase the installed capacity of its solar generators to 20 MW by the end of 2011. This plant will serve as a role model, promoting the development of new-energy industry in Shandong province.
