President of Shanda Interactive Entertainment, Chen Tianqiao, delivered a strategic speech at a news briefing for Shanda's "One Person, One Book" program March 10.
The "One Person, One Book" program involves 3 aspects. First, Shanda will open a "cloud library" and allow hardware manufacturers to use the content of Shanda's e-books. Second, Shanda will mobilize China's e-book companies to jointly establish a unified book distribution system. Third, Shanda will provide open hardware solutions to hardware manufacturers.
"At present, Amazon holds the copyrights to 300,000 e-books and has openly launched its Kindle e-book reader. Shanda now owns 5 literature websites and holds the copyrights to over 3 million e-books and nearly 10,000 books," Shanda CEO Hou Xiaoqiang said.
