An even wider range of power plants combining outstanding performance with enhanced efficiency - along with fascinating concepts for the drivetrain of the future - once again prove BMW's unparalleled advantages in innovation and sustainable development.

Highlights

BMW presents an unprecedented portfolio at the Beijing Auto Show that includes one world premiere and nine models making their Asian debuts:

The all-new long wheelbase BMW 5 Series exclusively developed and built for the Chinese market.

Two production models - the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 and X6 - along with the ActiveE and the Vision EfficientDynamics concept cars demonstrate the automaker's achievements and the mid-term development outlook of its EfficientDyanmics strategy

New 3 Series coupe and convertible, the new X5 and X5 with M Sports Package together with the first Mini crossover car - the Countryman - show the company's trendsetting innovation.

All-new BMW 5

The group is redefining premium with more enriched content illustrated by its all-new long wheelbase 5 Series.

BMW defines premium as environmental friendliness, high efficiency and innovation as well as advances combining pure aesthetics and sheer driving pleasure.

The long wheelbase 5 Series brings a new dimension to the Joy of Business and is a masterpiece of engineering and design.

Developed together with the standard version from the very beginning, it is the result of a comprehensive and complete new product development mission undertaken by the strongest R&D team in BMW Group including the best engineers from its plant in Shenyang.

Each generation of the 5 Series has led the segment in handling and driving dynamics.

The long wheelbase 5 Series synergizes the automaker's characteristic engineering with sheer driving pleasure to deliver the most outstanding premium business sedan and the most innovative car in its segment.

It features numerous sophisticated technologies ranging from chassis to engine and body to transmission, each employing the top technology in the automobile industry.

The model tailor-made to the China market is the first premium business sedan with all models delivered standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission that not only reduces gearshift time, but also significantly improves the car's handling and fuel consumption performance.

In addition to many advanced technologies, the all-new series boasts a range of innovative equipment never seen before in its class.

The car is a beneficiary of BMW's EfficientDynamics strategy, using its brake energy regeneration technology and a high level of environmental protection.

Fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions are down by up to 18 percent compared to its predecessor.

Strategy

Today the BMW EfficientDynamics strategy remains the most effective in the world for ongoing reduction of fuel consumption and emissions and enhanced driving pleasure. Innovations introduced as standard in each new model give BMW cars the best balance of performance and fuel economy in each segment.

The BMW ActiveHybrid technology is now offered for the first time in production cars - the ActiveHybrid 7 and X6 - serving as yet another cornerstone in BMW EfficientDynamics.

Seeking to provide zero-emission motoring in the long term, the auto giant is also focusing on various concepts for electro-mobility - exactly why BMW is presenting its latest results in all areas of technology at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show.
