Dominique Boesch, former general manager of Audi's Japan operation, was appointed managing director of the Audi sales division at Sino-German joint venture FAW Volkswagen Automobile Co on Sept 1, succeeding Johannes Thammer, who will take charge of Volkswagen's sales strategy in Germany.
Boesch, 44, worked for Audi as sales manager in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Turkey and France after joining the Volkswagen Group in 1991.
He was in charge of Audi's Singaporean operation in 2003 and became head of Audi Korea a year later.
Thammer, named Audi's sales chief in China in June 2008, has led the brand through rapid development in the past two years. In the first seven months this year, Audi delivered nearly 130,000 cars in China, enabling the country surpass Germany and become its biggest market worldwide.
